  1. Hi there, So I just finished my first bikini competition this past weekend. It was quite a journey, and although I wanted to maintain a completely vegan prep, I wasn't able to. I didn't feel prepared to manage my own nutrition and my coach didn't really have the background or knowledge either. Now I'm setting my sights on a second competition in Feb, and this time, I really want to do it plant based. Can anyone recommend a coach that works with bikini and aspiring figure competitors? I'm fine with online programs, but I definitely want someone who has the nutritional expertise to get me through the process. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for your response! I'm using Cathy Savage fitness right now, but if I do this again, I'll definitely work with a coach that can support a vegan diet. I clearly need a lot of guidance in this direction!
  3. Hey, I'm about 9 weeks out from my first competition in vegas (FAP), and I'm contemplating a "practice" show in so cal in late october just to get my feet wet. Right now I'm trying to build muscle, but I'm having a heck of a time doing so (it's my body type more than anything else). My coach thinks I should be focusing on building muscle still, but I"m more concerned about body fat loss. She is really pushing 6 small meals a day, with protein at every meal. Here's what a day looks like for me. meal 1 - 3 egg whites, 2 ounces tempeh, 1/2 c sauted mushrooms meal 2 - protein shake (just straight water) + 2 cups veggie soup meal 3 - 1.5 cups veggie soup + 3 ounces tempeh meal 4 - apple and peanut butter yum + protien drink (just with water) meal 5 - 3 ounces tofu + green salad 2 c meal 6 - protein powder + water Am I eating too much here? This is what I look like now, and again, I might be 5 weeks out from my first show if I decide to compete in SoCal. Any thoughts on diet adjustments or progress? I really don't know what to expect. Thanks!!!!
  4. I'm noticing that you eat a ton of pumpkin, broccoli and tofu. Is there a reason why you stick to these foods in particular? It seems like such a limited diet? Wow....you're certainly an early riser!!
  5. Hi Paige, I'm really new to this world of competing (I'm doing FAP in vegas in Nov in the bikini and model division). Right now i'm still eating egg whites as my coaching group is really big on protein intake. Judging from your diet, I see you're not taking in much protein once you drop the powders. How do you manage to build muscle without it? I'm having a really hard time as it is, and I take in much more protein than you! Congrats on placing 3 in OC btw!! That's really cool!
  6. Hey there, I live in Los Angeles, and I've been some form of vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian for more than half my life now. Right now I'm 90% vegan with the exception of egg whites, which I've been consuming to try and keep up with my protein requirements! I found this site and figured if a bunch of body builders can get compete on a vegan diet, I can too! I'm very passionate about eating clean and working out and I'm always happy to meet like-minded people! I look forward to getting to know you all better! Cheers Caren www.voodiegirl.com
