  1. Thanks, I was concerned that there might not be enough protein for someone who's trying to pack on lean muscle mass...
  2. I have and the info I've found the posts are mostly about users concerned with weather or not they are getting enough protein/calories as it doesn't seem to agree with everyone. But I haven't seen anything from guys trying the diet or an explanation of what it is. That's why I asked the question.
  3. Have any guys on here tried the 80/10/10 diet with success? I've been seeing it mentioned in serval posts but have no clue what in really entails. Can anyone recommend any books that would be worth a read? Thanks David
  4. Anyone have any suggestions for low carb/high protein breakfasts? I need to cut carb intake to about 100g per day and my usual muesli breakfast is above my carb consumption for the entire day. I often make tofu scramble and smoothies, but am looking for other options so I can switch things up a bit... Thanks David
  5. Any books you can recommend? I find it hard to search chat threads because there are so many different opinions...
  6. Hi Guys, I have a question about macro nutrients. 1. How do you calculate your daily requirement? 2. How do you track your intake? I've heard a lot about macro nutrients lately and increase your caloric intake to reduce body fat... I'm wondering if i'm putting my body into starvation mode by doing an intensive 6-day split plus high intensity cardio on a low calorie nutrition plan... Any advice? Thanks David
  7. Has anyone tried body beast? I'm looking for a new routine and this one seemed good because its not a home workout routine. Or at least from what i can tell. Has anyone tried it? Also if you have does it come with a nutrition plan and it it easily modified to make it vegan?
  8. Hi Guys I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of guidance. I've been vegan for almost three years. When i first made the switch i lost about 30 lbs. however over the years i've pretty much much bounced back and gain back about 15-20. Anyways, i'm trying to slim down and put on some muscle. Not looking to bulk up too much just want to look fit and one day see signs of abs if thats ever possible. 4 weeks ago i started the men's health uk V8 challenge. The workouts are hard and heavy, mostly circuit training and intervals. I've also cut out all refined sugars, added oils, alcohol, and starchy carbs and gluten for the most part. I usually allow myself one cheat on saturdays which is usually a white potato or low fat whole wheat waffles. And try to keep the portions small. I've even trimmed down coffee intake. I two a week, saturday and sunday with almond milk and one packet of truvia. The rest of the week is green tea and herbal tea. I'm using protein shakes and supplements (vega) to keep my protein around 120g per day while keep my calorie intake around 1700-2000. Its been over 4 weeks and i'm down 5lbs, actually 2. I gained 3 in the first week. I take my measures weekly along with photos and nothing is moving in either direction. I'm incredible frustrated and my motivation is hanging on by a thread. Especially since my husband is down 8lbs and inches as well. We're eating the same stuff except he cheats a little more and isn't vegan so he allows himself coffee with milk and sugar during the week, and has some eggs and cheese too. All the trainers i talk to say its because of my diet and that i can't do it on a vegan diet, which i know is BS. Anyone have any advice before i throw in the towel? By the way, i'm 29, 5 foot 7 inches, and about 174 lbs. my weight is pretty well distributed. I have a large chest and back which I would like to maintain and trim down on the gut, butt, and thighs... thanks David
  9. How do you manage to eat 140g of protein a day with consuming an insane amount of calories? I'm currently consuming about 40-50g of protein per day...
  10. Hi folks,, I'm hoping someone can give me a little guidance as vegan fitness is quite new to me.. I've been vegan for about a year and a half now, 7 months ago I started training at the gym and while I'm seeing results its not quite the results I want... I'm 5'8', 160 lbs, most of my weight is around mid section... I'm trying to shed fat and build muscle at the same time but I'm finding it hard to find the right balance... My calorie intake usually fluctuates around 1600, workout days are usually 500-600 calories higher due to pre and post workout shakes. My workout routine is as follows: Sunday: 1 hour spinning class followed by 35 minutes of weights Monday: Rest Tuesday: 35 minutes of weights followed by 1 hour of low intensity cardio on the elliptical Wednesday: 45 minutes of spinning bootcamp class Thursday: 35 minutes of weights followed by 1 hour of low intensity cardio on the elliptical Friday: Rest Saturday: 1.5 hours intense spinning class Can anyone offer any tips for my routine of nutrition plan. I feel rather lost when it comes to vegan training. I'm not looking to bulk up tremendously although I wouldn't find looking like the guys on the over on men's health either... Any advice? Thanks David
