  1. Hi, I'm somewhat new here as well, and also a surfer in Orange County CA. Any suggestions for exercises to increase paddle strength, other than paddling of course
  2. Thanks! Yes, I guess you're right that the scale and numbers don't really matter. It's a hard habit to break after weighing myself over and over again during my weight loss phase. Looking forward to feeling stronger
  3. Great idea, I think I'll keep a food log here too. I've been tracking on and off, but its time that I get serious about it. Using some of info from the following thread I came up with some goal numbers. If anyone has any comments about these I'd be grateful. Thanks!! http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=156380183 Weight: 84 kg BMR: 2037 kcal TEE: 2648 kcal Protein: 166 g Fat: 83 - 160 g Carbs: 373 - 539g
  4. I wasn't able to make it to the gym lately, due to taking care of sick family. I was able to get some cardio/fun in however, which is good because it is what keeps me sane. I can't believe what difference in mood and attitude a little bit of exercise makes. I know a lot of people fall off during the holidays, I'm actually looking forward to some time off work so I can get back on track during the holidays! 11/22 5 miles running @ 8:00/mi (Stress release!) 11/23 90 minutes surfing (My moments of Zen for the week!)
  5. 11/18 Treadmill Interval 30 mins, avg. 7.0mph Vertical Chest Press machine 50kg x 10 x 3 Dumbbell Curls 32.5lbs x 8 x 3 Overhead Press 50lb x 10 x 3 Assisted Chin Ups 32kg x 6 x 3 Assisted Dips 32kg x 8 x 3 Squat machine thing 160lb+bar x 6 x 3 125 crunches of various styles 11/19 Running outside - 7miles @ 8:15 min per mile avg
  6. Hello everyone, my name is Mark and I have been vegan for 1 year now, and have just recently decided to start weight training. I really enjoy running, and have lost 65+ pounds doing so. I also like to surf which provides with even more cardio. I feel that I lost some muscle mass during my weight loss, so I'd like to focus on gaining back some muscle and reducing my body fat percentage from 17% to 14% and trying not to lose anymore weight (I'm 6', 2" @ 185lbs). I've been to the gym several times in the last month or so, and I'm trying to design a consistent workout routine that fits my needs. I'd really like to gain strength that will help with surfing. I'm ready to push myself and finally get in serious shape. (P.S. Thanks to the guys who pulled the barbell off of my chest last week, lol) I am mainly concerned about my diet, I started building a calorie deficit every day while losing weight, and now I need to find ways to eat more without gaining too much fat. It scares me to think that I might put back on the weight I lost, it took so much effort to lose the weight that I am scared to start eating more. I recently purchased Robert's new book Shred It!, and have just begun reading it. After reading the forums I have decided to start a training log and will post some updates soon. So far this board has been very inspirational, thanks everyone!
