  1. Was just researching this! Thanks for the tips. Best to get your nutrition from natural whole foods.
  2. I also use KB's. Like them a lot since I use them at home rather than go to the gym. The information on creating a program sometimes seems like they're missing something. I have some of Pavel Tsatsouline's books (Naked Warrior, Enter The Kettlebell and one other) and while informative, they seem to need something more and I'm not sure what. That being said, check out Mike Mahler's site, http://mikemahler.com/ for different routines. As for what I'm doing now, on each day, I do Push ups, pull ups, dips, military presses chin ups and sometimes squats on separate days. I will do a set of push ups then go right to a set of 25 swings. Then do it again until I've completed Four sets of each. Then I rest for a minute and do another round. I do a total of five rounds. It takes about an hour which fits into my daily schedule very well. I don't always do the squats because the swings, if done right, help in that area. Also, I have a messed up hip and sometimes the pain is insane. I'm no expert, but I hope that helps.
  3. Journal Entry 1: Accountability. That's what this is mostly about. I think if by blogging my progress, ups, downs and anything else, it will push me to take action. First, a little about me. I've been vegan for 5 1/2 years. It was easier than I thought. Always been into working out, sports and anything physical. I like to move. I workout at home with Russian kettlebells and my pullup bar. Running was also a favorite activity. I say, "was" because running aggravated a hip injury and now that's out and it sucks big time. It also prevents me from doing heavy weights on squats. The pain can be insane and I work around it. As a freelancer/independent contractor, it can be difficult to get a workout in sometimes. But, I have a program that can be done in an hour and that's a huge plus. That's it for now. Time for some sleep.
  4. Just finished reading Robert's book, Shred It. Now, I'm going set up a program and go for it. What I really like about the book is Robert's enthusiasm and motivation. It's really inspirational. Right now, I'm going through some personal and professional changes and the attitude in Shred It was just the thing I needed. Check out this quote from Will Smith: I've never really viewed myself as particularly talented. Where I excel is (through) ridiculous, sickening work ethic. While the other guy's sleeping, I'm working. While the other guy's eating, I'm working. Now, it's on to the gym!
  5. I like my coffee black, no sugar. Same for iced coffee. Just my taste preference. I've quit coffee a few times over the years. Day 3 was always the most difficult. That's when withdrawal kicked in. I would last two weeks a the most then start back. The odd thing is that my palate and body would be clean so 1) I would feel the buzz more from less coffee due to a lower tolerance, and 2) I could only drink good tasting coffee because my taste buds had adjusted. Currently, I drink about 2 1/2 cups a day.
  6. VeganBadass_CO, your name is, well, badass! I will try to keep everyone entertained.
  7. Just got a copy of Robert's book, Shredded, and looking forward to, well, getting shredded. Been a vegan for 5 1/2 years and always been into working out, exercising and moving. So with the book, I decided it would be a very good idea to join VBB. Will upload some pix soon. Other things: Live in New York City Height: 5' 11" Weight: 160 Used to run a lot. Can't anymore due to injuries. Miss it very much. Workout at home with kettlebells, dumbells, pullup bar, floor mats. It's 12:55 AM and I need sleep. That's it for now.
