I have been vegan for over ten years. My background is in cycling. I just finished my 2nd triathlon season and my third mountain running season. I have two sons age 1 and 6 that keep me very busy. I organize a triathlon training group in central MA and I do a lot of CrossFit Endurance type workouts.

I haven't gone running in over two months due to some issues with my foot. It has been feeling better lately so I decided that today was a good day to try it out. I moved this weekend and I've been anxious to explore some of the trails near my new house.

 

Run: 5k (trail/road)

Max Push ups: 27 (unbroken)

Air squats: 100

 

Daily eats:

 

Apple

Smoothie: pea protein, almond milk, banana, blueberries, and pineapple.

Curry veggies and rice

Banana

Smoothie: Vega Choc-a-Lot, almond milk, banana, blueberries, and flaxseed meal.

Big salad: romaine, spinach, green peppers, sunflower seeds, nutritional yeast, olive oil, and Braggs liquid aminos

I'm digging all the fruit. That is my favorite thing to eat. I used to be a runner as well, 5k and 10k were ones I enjoyed a lot, as well as the 800m, 1500m and 3000m. I probably even liked those shorter distances a bit more, 5k was as far as I really wanted to run

 

So you're doing triathlon and mountain running these days?

 

What is mountain running like? It's new to me. I know of trail runner and forest races on trails but not familiar with mountain running.

Hi Robert... thanks for the reply! Mountain running is an incredible and challenging sport. You can find more info on the New England Mountain Running Series at http://www.usatfne.org/trail/ . While most mountain races are on trail.... there are a couple in the series that are entirely on road. I'm looking forward to racing in the mountain running national championships this summer at Mount Washington.
