colleen.kokx
Hi! I am a college student at Michigan State University studying dietetics. I have been struggling with trying out a vegan diet since about September and really would like to pull it off. It's hard when so many other college students will put anything in their bodies that is remotely edible! I thought maybe this site could help keep me encouraged to get this thing going? Hope so! Also, how did you begin to tell people you were becoming vegan? My sister seems to think it is because I want to lose weight but that's not the case(im 5'7" and 117 lbs naturally). How do you make people understand that your choice is for your overall wellness and not some crazy diet plan?-Co
ragekill15
I know I get tired of having to explain to people why I am vegan, so I often suggest to people who question my diet to read a book or watch a movie on veganism. My mom tried to convince me to go vegan for a long time but I never considered it until I read The Optimum Nutrition Bible and The Engine 2 Diet. Here is a clip of Rip Esselstyn, author of The Engine 2 Diet.
kareno
Yes, as posted above, Engine 2 is brilliant. And watch the film "Forks Over Knives" and have anyone who questions you watch it as well! It has changed tons of people's lives and minds about food!! You can buy it from www.forksoverknives.com, Amazon.com, or watch it on Netflix. Vegan is the way to be! Go for it, and don't be ashamed!! All the best,Karen
