The Machine's Log

Recommended Posts

I’m comfortable with my workouts which I’ll probably post anyway but I’m mostly wanting to track my food intake & try and figure out what’s going to work with my body being on a plant-based diet. I made the switch after Christmas last year so I’m almost a year vegetarian, struggling with it. I’ve been on a rollercoaster in terms of my nutrition since I made the switch so I’ve been reflecting back on my workout, macro logs over the last 2 years & this is what I’ve come up with in chunks:

2012-2013:

145lbs 25% (I’m 5’9, skinny-fat to the max)

Running daily

Avg 1300cal

macros: 60/15/25 (c/p/f)

Spring-fall 2014(1st image), personally the best I’ve performed and felt energy-wise:

150lbs 20%

Cardio 4x/week, resistance training 6x/week

Avg 1700cal, keto/carb cycling experimentation

Macros: from 5/35/60 to 30/35/35 depending on intensity of workouts that day

Spring-summer 2015(2nd image), first stint off meat + under poor guidance:

Fluctuating 170-190lbs, 25-30%

Cardio 13x/week (I know), resistance training 6x/week

1100cal 10/75/15 … 6 meals a day of either egg white or a protein shake

I had finally gotten a handle on what my body liked last year before throwing myself a curve ball with the diet change. Then the comp prep this year was brutal, not only had I not gotten used to a vegetarian diet yet but I was under the influence of a trainer who lied about being well-educated on training a vegetarian competitor for my $$ After all that I ended up sick and gaining weight. Lame! Anyway, I’ve spent the last 3 months catering to my body’s recovery, with a loose diet calorie/macro-wise and low-intensity workouts 2-3x/week, getting my metabolism, heart rate, and blood pressure back to normal levels. & As of my doctor appointment today, my heart is in good health and I'm good to go!

My first year-ish being vegetarian hasn’t been too fun but I’m optimistic and I’d love as much feedback/tips on food logs as anyone dropping in is willing to give me

Current Goal:

Just figure out what’s going to work for me so I can get back to a comfortable b.f.%, as I know what I was doing with keto reeeally won’t work for me eating veg.

End Goal:

+20lbs lean mass, 15-20%, feeling energetic and strong

My stats as of Nov 1, 2015:

Weight: 190lbs

Lean Mass: 130lbs

Fat Mass: 60lbs

B.F.: 31%
